Story
As part of my second year at the University of Strathclyde I joined an entrepreneurship class called ‘The Social Challenge’. The class aims to help us develop an entrepreneurial mindset, which of course includes social responsibility.
We have been asked to complete 15 hours of volunteering or fundraising for a cause of our choice. I have chosen to support Glasgow Women’s Aid, which is an organisation supporting domestic abuse victims. I chose this cause because the statistics I found when researching were shocking. Therefore, I am fundraising by completing 16 days of activism, which entails running one mile every day.
Glasgow Womens Aid has been supporting women, children and young people who are experiencing Domestic Abuse for more than 45 years. The development of their service has been influenced by the experiences of the women, children and young people that they have supported. As an organisation they provide information, support and safe temporary refuge accommodation. They offer support, advocacy and education services to the public, professionals and survivors.
