Story
Hello there! Conal here! On October 15th, I’ll be taking part in the Amsterdam Marathon to raise some funds for NICHE International.
My mum has been a trustee of NICHE International since its foundation in 2017. The charity was set up because too many babies in low-income countries die in their first month of life. NICHE instructors - leading resuscitation experts and paediatricians - deliver life-saving medical training to improve survival rates for newborn babies in poorly resourced areas of the world. All are volunteers and NICHE has no overheads. All funds are used to deliver these life-saving courses and provide associated equipment.
I'm looking forward to taking on this challenge and raising some funds for this very important cause and any donations/shares are greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately Gill can't take part any more but is doing a Plank-a-day for 30 days to also raise some awareness. Click here to keep up to date with her progress! https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE4MDE0MTM1NzUyODczOTI2?story_media_id=3198394441306644814_52238457&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

NICHE International is a small medical charity working in international newborn care. Our aim is to reduce infant and child mortality by assisting in the provision of training courses and other healthcare projects to doctors, nurses, midwives and allied healthcare staff in resource poor areas of the world. Our model is fully sustainable as we not only teach life-saving skills, but we also train selected candidates to become instructors. In this way, the course candidates take home and embed best practices in their own hospitals and health centres, and qualified local trainers continue to deliver and evaluate the training - and in their turn, train more instructors. Once sufficient numbers of instructors are sharing the specially devised Newborn Care Course, NICHE's work in the region is mostly done.
