In Memory of Colin Lynch

Colin was always a mentor and advocate for young people. He had no children of his own but many would consider him a father like figure in their lives. He adored his nephew and nieces and was very proud of them. Those young people in his extended family will also have experienced his warmth and support. Right up to the current day , where many of the young City Supporters he has met will count him as a friend. He assisted his partner Christine when she fostered young people and he was the best listener to many a tale of worry and sadness.
A proud Mancunian and a supporter of young people we have chosen a charity that he would have chosen himself.
Before the pandemic, one third of young people in the UK were lonely, half felt unready for work and half felt they didn't belong to their local community. Now, during this crisis, 80% of young people with a history of mental ill health have said that the current situation is making them feel worse.
At GMYN, our key focus is supporting young people with experience of the care system and special educational needs and disabilities to feel safe, supported and cared for but, as charities and statutory services respond to the pandemic, the support available for these young people has suddenly changed and reduced.
But they now need this support more than ever.
Any support you can offer is helpful. Thank you.
