Story
On Friday 30th of June we (my gorgeous wife Rowena, and I) are flying off to Tanzania in Africa to attempt to hike to the summit of Kilimanjaro at 5895m (19,341ft). It’s a big step into the unknown for us as temperatures on the mountain can vary between +30 on the lower slopes to -20 degrees at the summit. We will also experience very thin air over 4000m, which can lead to acute altitude sickness, and stops about 20% of people making the summit. Not only that, but we will be camping on the mountain for 8 days, with no electricity, no mains water and no shower facilities!
It would be crazy to put ourselves through this without doing some good. I know times are tough at the moment, but if you can spare a little, your sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.
We would like to raise funds for EACH. EACH provide care and support for children and young people. They offer a family-centred, needs-led approach to care, ensuring all of the needs of the children and young people they care for are met - whether psychological, physical, emotional, social or spiritual.
Care delivery - can take place in a variety of settings, including at home and in the hospice. Care and support is provided by qualified nurses, clinical nurse specialists, counsellors, care assistants, play specialists, music therapists, art therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a family therapist, spiritual care advisors, chaplains, chefs and housekeeping staff, and a consultant nurse.
Care at end of life - the overall aim is to provide holistic symptom management, care and support for those who are nearing end of life. Care by EACH staff may be provided in the family home, in the hospice or at hospital, depending on the child and family's preference.
