I was lucky enough to obtain a ballot place in the London marathon last year, but had to defer due to injury. I have a place this year, and have been quietly training throughout the winter, in the hope that this time, I can do it. Training has been much more successful, and I can now see the start line! I ran for Sugarloaf in LM2021, and now the start line is in sight, I would like to run on their behalf again.
My now 22 year old daughter, Ella, was born with a complex genetic disorder meaning, not only does she face health challenges, she also has severe learning disabilities and autism. Ella no longer rides, but the therapeutic benefit of riding lives on for all our community friends. I became a trustee of the charity in 2017, and now currently occupy the role of treasurer.
So many people benefit enormously through the therapeutic benefits of being with horses and horse riding. Sugarloaf coaches and horses are calm, relaxed and friendly and the ethos we promote at Sugarloaf is one of inclusion, encouragement and confidence, whilst having lots of fun!!
After the difficulties presented by the pandemic and lockdowns, the charity faces a shortage of funds and desperately needs funds to assist in running the sessions and looking after our wonderful horses, Bess and Del Boy.
Please check out the gallery for some beautiful pics of Bess and Del, and Ella enjoying her horseriding.
