Thank you for visiting my page.
I am running the London Marathon in memory of my dad. After his diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma in October 2022, he underwent surgery in mid-November. We had hoped that the operation would mark the beginning of his recovery. For a few weeks, it seemed that way—he was at home, looking healthier, and even starting to learn how to walk again.
However, a follow-up appointment in mid-December brought devastating news. On December 23rd, the doctors informed us that while the surgery had removed most of the cancer, they couldn’t eliminate it completely due to its size and location near his femur and lymph nodes. The cancer had spread to his heart and lungs. From that point, it was deemed incurable, and he was placed under palliative care. Despite this, Dad wanted to fight and opted for chemotherapy, knowing it wouldn’t cure him but give him hope for more time.
In early January, he was moved to UCH for further care and treatment. My mum relocated to London, staying in various hotels to be close to him. Despite undergoing several treatments, his condition deteriorated rapidly. On March 6th, 2023, we lost him.
Dad always thought I was a bit crazy for participating in running and cycling events. I can only imagine his reaction if he knew I was running the London Marathon for him. By sharing his story, I aim to raise money and awareness for Sarcoma UK, honouring his memory as I take on this iconic challenge.
Thank you for your support.
I’m supporting Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
