Story
I am participating in the "To Holles Street & Home Challenge 2025" by walking 100 km this March to support the NMH Foundation, which plays a vital role in helping women and babies thrive, arrive, and survive!
On the 8th of May 2024, I was transferred to NMH Holles Street from Wexford General Hospital after my waters prematurely ruptured at just 31 weeks pregnant. Our daughter. Leia arrived that very night at 1.15am on the 9th, weighing only 1.82 kg and born nine weeks early. She spent 19 days under the exceptional care of dedicated doctors and nurses in the NICU, HDU, and SCBU, where she grew stronger each day until she could be transferred back to Wexford SCBU for an additional two weeks before her discharge home to meet her two big sisters.
Words cannot express our gratitude for the midwives who were there on that life-changing night. It was one of the scariest moments of my life; however, hearing her cry and being able to hold her for a brief moment helped ease my panic. The photographs taken by the midwife who delivered Leia that night will forever be treasured. The nurses who took over her care in the NICU were truly amazing—they reassured us that she would be okay and answered every question we had with kindness and patience.
We are forever grateful to everyone who cared for Leia during her time at Holles Street. Your support can help ensure that other families receive the same compassionate care we did during our time of need.
I kindly ask you to consider supporting my fundraising efforts with a contribution towards our target of €200 as I walk for this important cause on March 1st, 2025.
