Story
It's no Russ Cook (Hardest Geezer) running the length of Africa to fundraise... but... I've decided to run from Afghanistan to China (yes, 200 miles) to raise money to provide lifesaving support to people in Palestine and Lebanon.
For many of us, watching the horrific images of civilians suffering, our Arab brothers and sisters, has been utterly heartbreaking. It feels like there is nothing we can do to change the dial. Our cries have amounted to nothing. Our faith in democracy has waned.
So, I've decided to turn my feelings of hopelessness and lethargy into something (hopefully) useful. I am going to get off my ass and run across Tajikistan. For those of you who know me, you know I don't like running. So when I say I'm running essentially a marathon a day over the course of about 2 weeks, (when I've not run a marathon before lol) I hope that sinks in! It. Will. Be. Tough!
Anything you can give is gratefully received. The UK gov MATCH any donation! Even £1 is a pound that they didn't have before!
£30 could provide blankets for six people to keep them warm
£50 could provide emergency food, for five families for one week
£100 could provide emergency shelter for five families
Thanks so much in advance, for donating and also just checking out the fundraiser.
*Just to note - I am completely funding my own trip. Nothing donated will go to the admin costs associated with the run. It will all go directly to Disasters Emergency Committee.
