Story
I am taking part in the 29 Miles in February challenge to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK, who are leading the search for a cure.
My Mum was finally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year (after many set backs, numerous appointments and scans) and like so many people I’m finding myself taking on the role of her carer. The biggest challenge is the emotional impact for me, in what I now know is called ‘anticipatory grief’. I’m losing a bit more of my Mum each day to this devastating disease. My best friend, my confidante and biggest supporter is slipping away from me.
Completing 29 miles in February gives me a focus and raising money so that hopefully families in the future don’t have to go through this means a lot to me.
Please support my fundraising efforts by making a donation to my page, and you could help towards finding a cure for dementia.
£20 could fund one hour of ground-breaking research.
£50 could provide access to specialist equipment to study cells.
£250 could pay for a genetic test to help identify dementia risk genes.
Every contribution, big or small, will drive forward the search for a cure.
