Story
Hi, thank you for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of my lovely Dad, passionate DJ and fly fisherman Steve, who died aged 70 after a sudden cardiac arrest in 2020, and more recently my cousin and talented musician Mike Wroth, aged just 56, who we suddenly lost three weeks ago to a coronary embolism. And to encourage all you lovely people to support this great cause, I will be paddleboarding 100km (62miles) in under 20 hours on the River Trent!
On July 21 & 22 I will paddle across three counties - Staffordshire, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire - in two days, against the clock, just 10hrs a day. This is no mean feat! 😬
I have met and risen to a few challenges over the years...and I attempted this Trent100 last year but was met with some tough obstacles, which meant I wasn't able to paddle the whole 100km.
This year it will not beat me. And what's even better is I'd like to do it for a cause close to my heart...British Heart Foundation in memory of Dad and Mike
Sudden losses like these are so hard to reconcile for the loved ones left behind. I would like to think the money I raise might be able to help someone else detect heart issues to avoid these kinds of fatal outcomes. So if you'd like to support me, any contribution will be gratefully and thankfully received.
I've been working really hard on the training these past few months and I've already clocked up over 360 long, hard and, at times, very tough emotional kilometres...which is like paddling London to Amsterdam! I always say training is the hard bit. I'm now feeling ready to take on the mighty Trent100 with my fellow teammates Jen, Jon, Scott and Lynda. Together we are the SUPerheroes. If you're interested you can follow our paddle and see our progress next Fri/Sat at this link: https://track.trail.live/event/trent-100?fbclid=IwAR1lGYL8oe3MkHaDtoysRNSHgtlxaz6JWmNCJtpYaCWq779O73GpcZNQvz
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people, like Dad and Mike, lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
