Before joining the ‘lucky few’ and having Owen in our lives, we knew what Down Syndrome looked like however didn’t know much more than that!

DSUK and Positive About Down Syndrome (PADS) is an amazing charity that relies on donations to provide support to people with Down Syndrome and their families throughout all ages and stages of life.

This charity successfully offers guidance to a multitude of professionals for providing training and support where there is a lack of specialised provision in the community for people with Down Syndrome.

£10 provides a ‘New Baby Positivity Pack’ to a new or expectant parent, that shares real stories, current information about Down Syndrome and a small handmade gift - a lifeline in those early days of being overwhelmed with worry about the future.

£50 provides a new parent, family member or professional with access to a 6-week Makaton signing course to ease communication frustrations.

£250 Provides resources and training to a maternity unit for a year, ensuring expectant and new parents are well supported by professionals who have a contemporary understanding of Down syndrome. This would have made a huge difference in our own journey had we been aware of PADS.

This charity has been a real source of support to my family since Owen came along and has provided us with a wealth of knowledge, information and guidance to support him on his developmental journey.

This charity relies on donations. As such, I am organising a fundraising night on World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st 2025 with an array of raffles and prizes to be won. All proceeds will be donated to DSUK and Positive About Down Syndrome.

Furthermore, I am lucky and grateful that my lovely Social Work colleagues have also kindly offered to fundraise for DSUK and on 26th April 2025, we will compete the 14 mile Glasgow Kilt walk together.

We would be very grateful for any donation you can make to help us raise funds to this fantastic charity very close to our heart.

Thank you so much
