Story
back in 2019 I felt very very not myself. I ate less, I slept terribly and was exhausted constantly. I put it down to a stressful new job role. This wasn’t the case.
A trip to a and e in December confirmed I had an ovarian cyst 30cm in diameter!
I had an operation to remove my ovary and fallopian tube, the biopsies came back that the cyst was borderline cancerous.
Since then I have been regularly seen by my hospital and tracked. I was lucky to find the ovarian tumour when I did.
I want to raise awareness for the signs of ovarian cancer: feeling full, eating less, bloating, fatigue, the need to urinate more. Some of these problems tie in to “period pains” and you may even think about playing them down like I did… but if it keeps occurring. Please seek help.
I plan to run a lot this may to raise awareness for ovarian cancer. To all the brave people battling this disease and to all the friends and family supporting anyone with it. You’re not alone. I see you! 🥰
The Eve Appeal is the UKs leading gynaecological cancer charity. We fund life-saving research and raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers: womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.
Throughout May, I will be taking on 60k to help save lives.
Every day in the UK, 60 women are diagnosed with one of these cancers. This is far too many.
Your donation can help support The Eve Appeal's Ask Eve service so that anyone worried about their gynae health gets the information they need whilst also helping to smash taboos and raise awareness of these cancers, and their signs and symptoms.
Thank you so much.
