Story
I'm running the TCS 2025 London Marathon as part of #TeamBowelCancerUK.
Bowel cancer has claimed the lives of 2 incredibly special and much-loved people in my life: my mother Diane (2017, aged 60) and now my husband Jason (2024, 4 days before his 45th birthday). Both were at advanced stages of the disease at time of diagnosis.
Running was something I first turned to as an outlet during the early stages of Mum’s treatment, and I hope it can help me again as I grieve for the love of my life. Jason and I met in 1998 as teenagers, married in 2007, and thankfully we packed in so much laughter, adventure, music and fishing (!) over our 25 years together.
It is going to be a real challenge for me to train for and run a marathon (I like a civilised 10k in fair weather!) but it will be nothing in comparison to what they endured with grace, dignity and positivity.
Your support will help stop people dying of bowel cancer by funding vital services and lifesaving research. A heartfelt thank you for your support xx
