On April 6th 2022 our daughter Elsie had an awful accident. After exceptional care from The Great North Air Ambulance Elsie arrived at the RVI, Great North Children’s Hospital where she was given life saving surgery. We were told it was a very serious accident and there was a 50/50 chance of Elsie making it. Elsie did make it and is now thriving. After many many operations (8), a few weeks in PICU followed by a lot more on Ward 9 (Critical Care) Elsie has made an incredible recovery and is living a full life at home and school. The doctors, surgeons, nurses, cleaners and staff were nothing short of incredible on a daily basis. They always smiled, were there every step of the way and for this we will forever be grateful and in their debt. This is why I am going well out of my comfort zone to run the North York Moor Ultra Marathon which is 34.3 miles on the 28th October 2023 to raise as much as I can for this wonderful hospital. Both our children will be running the last 10k with me so please give generously and thank you in advance for your kindness and support. Clara
