Story
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
On April 6th 2022, our daughter had an awful accident. Without beating around the bush, The Great North Air Ambulance saved her life. She had multiple broken ribs, two collapsed lungs, a split liver, damaged spleen and a lack of blood to the brain causing a stroke. The speed the ambulance arrived, the calm efficiency the team dealt with Elsie was mind blowing and we are forever in their debt, hence the reason I am going well out of my comfort zone to help raise funds for this incredible charity. I am running 34.3 miles and have been training since October 2022. Our two children Sam aged 14 and Elsie who will be 12 are running the last 10k with me to raise even more funds I hope! Thank you in advance for your generosity. Clara
