Story

The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is the UK’s cleft lip and palate support charity. The charity brings together people affected by cleft to help them connect with others who share their experiences, welcoming them into a supportive community for life.

CLAPA’s purpose is to make sure no one affected by cleft in the UK goes through their journey alone.

CLAPA’s work to support children, adults and families affected by cleft in the UK relies on the generosity of donors. This Cleft Lip and Palate Awareness Week, want to combine awareness-raising with fundraising.

Our son was born with a cleft lip and palate at his 20-week scan. He had two operations to repair his cleft and one to help his hearing. This is a 20-year journey, and the support we’ve had from CLAPA has been brilliant. We’re desperate to raise money and awareness for CLAPA to help parents like us who may be daunted by the scale of what’s to come for their little one.
