Story
Claire was diagnosed with incurable cancer in her uterus – leiomyosarcoma - in 2023, two years after first raising her symptoms and concerns with her GP. Initially being diagnosed with IBS, she faced delays and misdiagnosis at every turn. It was only when a masseuse in Turkey asked her if she was pregnant that Claire feared it might be something more serious.
Claire’s Campaign has been launched to give platform to ‘unheard’ women with gynaecological cancer. The campaign aims to amplify the voices of women who have felt ignored and let down by the system, leading to misdiagnosis, inadequate care, and tragic outcomes.
Claire’s Campaign will also shine a light on staff shortages and capacity challenges within the Welsh NHS, which have contributed to shocking waiting times experienced by women with gynaecological cancer, some of the longest of all cancer types in Wales.
All donations made will go to Tenovus Cancer Care and will be used to deliver on the aims of Claire’s Campaign.
Rachel and I are running our first Ultra Marathon to raise money for Claire's Campaign. Claire means a lot to us and we want to help Claire in her campaign to stop her experience be the norm for women accessing treatment.
It's our first time running that distance so all your help and support through donations will help us to stay motivated and keep going over the 50km (31.1 miles)!!
Over the next few months we'll be running the Cardiff Half Marathon and Manchester Marathon...we might do some extra challenges if we reach our fundraising target by then!
Thanks for your support!
