this is the edit that I hoped I would never have to do…….

On the 4th of November 2024 Hugo died.

The loss of my boy is profound, exhausting soul destroying and still quite simply unbelievable.

Knowing that now I’m running the London marathon in his memory breaks my heart but me more determined than I’ve ever been to do something.

Team Hugo.

this last few months have been a pretty tough for Hugo. in April during a routine procedure Hugo suffered a cardiac arrest and consequently spent six days in Great Ormond Street Hospital. As those who know Hugo’s journey know, he has spent much time at GOSH in his 15 years. He has undergone three heart surgeries.Many procedures for gastrostomies, his overnight ventilation dealt with at GOSH and in recent times been under the neurological team.

Hugo’s journey at Great Ormond Street hospital is nearing its end as he moves further towards adult services and for me the loss of this great hospital for my son will be significant.

The last couple of months have been particularly hard and I have found myself in a position that I’d hoped not to be in again. Watching your child on life support is quite honestly the most difficult thing to see. Not knowing if he would survive was nothing short of horrendous. That Hugo inspired me again with his tenacity, determination and strength to be able to bounce back from such a significant and potentially life changing episode is nothing short of a miracle.

I owe everything to that team who spent two hours stabilising my son and ensuring he survived.

So, for me there is only one way to show how much I appreciate what is done for my boy and the one thing that I know I can do best is run.

London Marathon 2025 here we go!!!
