Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This Autumn it will be 5 years since my close friend Lizzy passed away. I am very grateful to Beat for giving me the opportunity to run in the iconic Great North Run and raise funds in memory of Lizzy on 8 September. Any support you can give to help me stay motivated through the training runs and on the day itself will mean a lot and make a big difference to helping those suffering from the impacts of eating disorders.
The Charity
Beat is the UK's eating disorders charity. They exist to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. They are a champion, guide and friend to anyone affected, giving individuals experiencing an eating disorder and their loved ones a place where they feel listened to, supported and empowered.
Beat predict 1.25 million people are affected by these serious mental illnesses. Eating disorders can be deeply isolating for the people affected by them. Beat’s online support groups and training for carers allow people to talk to others with similar experiences, helping them to feel less alone with their eating disorder. They run phone and email helplines 365 days a year for anyone who needs support. Often when people get in touch its the first time they've voiced their concerns about themselves or a loved one.
