The Celtic Challenge · 4 September 2024 to 8 September 2024 ·

The Celtic Challenge is an epic four day cycling adventure that involves riding 200 miles from Edinburgh to the beautiful Isle of Iona. Please help our team of cyclists raise crucial funds for research led by Cure Parkinson's.

Story

Cure Parkinson’s was established to fund research to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s’ Disease.

As someone diagnosed with Parkinson’s’ Disease aged 37, I was rather desperate to find any silver linings possible, and at the very least rays of hope to help me weather the storm that accompanies receiving a diagnosis of a progressive degenerative incurable neurological condition.

Within weeks of receiving my diagnosis I discovered Cure Parkinson’s and subsequently attended their seminars on research they have funded. There began my journey of equipping myself with the maximal knowledge I could on cutting edge research, to hopefully minimize the burden of this disease upon my future life.

The research funded by Cure Parkinson’s is literally working to save lives, and selfishly I am rather keen that they do this apace!

I have discovered that cycling over 50 miles a day minimises my Parkinson's symptoms, however cycling up brutal mountain passes is still hugely challenging and will require grit and determination to achieve the destination.

This September, I will be joining 19 riders to take on The Celtic Challenge - a 200 mile cycle from Edinburgh to the Isle of Iona.

Any support that you are able to offer would be most welcome.
