Story
I'm walking 22 miles of the Surrey 3 peaks to raise money for NACOA.
The organiser of this walk is Amy, my cousin, who became involved with the charity following my Uncle's death from complications related to his dependency on alcohol, and is now a Trustee.
For my early childhood I knew my (favourite) Uncle Steve as a super fun person who I loved being around. But as I got older, and his alcoholism became more pronounced, he grew more distant from our family. It wasn't fun anymore, just very upsetting. Watching the effect this had on my cousins has been heartbreaking.
I am raising money to support all of the incredible work Amy is doing (I am very proud of her!) and because all government funding for children impacted by their parents drinking has been cut.
NACOA provides support and services that are a lifeline to many, and it is more important than ever to support its work.
So thanks so much for sponsoring me on this challenge.

MORE ABOUT NACOA...
Nacoa (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics) believes that every child has the right to a happy childhood and to live a creative and meaningful life but when drink is the family secret they are more likely to experience family violence, neglect and other problems in their own homes.
