Story
I love animals and am a lifelong supporter of causes that help animals who have been wronged by humans.
Through no fault of their own animals are neglected, abused, misunderstood and much worse. I am running for the RSPCA Woodside as they provide critical care for animals in need and help to find them the safe and loving homes they deserve. It is also a great honour for me to be running in memory of a very special person who dearly loved and cared for all animals, Sophie Welyczko, the younger daughter of my close friend Nikki.
Additionally, on 6th October Nikki and I will be running the off-road 10-mile Charnwood Challenge!
Thanks so much for reading this and please see below just one case study from Woodside:
Simon the Cat
Simon the cat was rescued in June 2023 after being attacked by a dog and then falling into a paddling pool in a desperate attempt to get away from the dog. He was brought into RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre in critical condition and it was touch-and-go whether he would survive. When the vets examined him, it was discovered that he was very thin and severely anaemic. The vets treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He certainly used up one of his nine lives as he needed a total of 14 weeks of nursing and veterinary care but thankfully, he pulled through, and his mum adopted him in October 2023.
9-yr-old Simon now spends his nights sleeping on the big bed, and his days sitting in his own spot on the sofa, people-watching out the window, and watching his favourite TV programmes- sports and nature documentaries. He gives his mum lots of cuddles to distract her from regularly scratching her carpets.
