Story
Ten-year-old Sophia was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma and Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumour, two "rare" forms of cancer that required the amputation of her leg below the knee to save her life.
The effects on Sophia and her family have been devastating, and the last two years have been incredibly hard. Having to go through intensive chemotherapy, amputation, and then learning to walk again is traumatic for an adult, but for a child, most of us could never imagine the pain and despair she felt. Sophia hasn’t let the cancer or her disability limit or define her. With her sheer determination and courage, Sophia with the help of a friend taught herself to ride a bike. A knock at the door from her friend, telling her Mum and Dad to come quick revealed just how incredible she is when Sophia came whizzing up the road on a bike surprising them all. This incredible and inspiring young lady now wants to use her experience to raise vital awareness and funds for childhood cancer by cycling 100k on a tandem Saturday 16th September. Will you join her? This challenge will be tough for Sophia, but she is strong minded in achieving her goal.
