Story
WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.
We all need clean water, no matter who or where we are. And we all need to play our part so that everyone, everywhere can get it.
Clean water should be a normal part of daily life for us all – but it isn't. Almost one in ten people around the world don't have clean water close to home and, as springs dry up and floods pollute vital water sources, climate change is making it worse.
Here in the UK, our gardens are often the first places where we feel the effects of extreme weather like heatwaves, droughts and floods. And, as our climate changes, water supplies are becoming increasingly unreliable.
Clean water changes everything. Together with decent toilets and good hygiene, it keeps people safe, healthy and thriving – but 703 million people still live without.
If you are local to Cambridge, come along to our 'Sing 'n swim' event at the Jesus Green Lido. We'll be hosting a FREE community singing workshop, followed by performances by the Lido's Centenary Cygnets (synchronised swimming) and the Cambridge Jazz Festival Choir.
