Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am hoping to raise money for The Yard, which creates beautiful havens for play for children with additional support needs. They provide opportunities for fun, friendship and community building, and it is a space of support and a sense of belonging. My son, Tadhg, enjoys play sessions at The Yard as part of his school week and it has made a huge difference to him, and our family, over the past year.
This is why I, along with a group of intrepid explorers (or maybe we're just mad), from Lochend Boxing Club, have decided to take on a challenge - THE LAIRIG GHRU - to hopefully raise funds for The Yard.
The Lairig Ghru is the best known hill-pass in Scotland. It climbs to an altitude of 835 metres and crosses through the central Cairngorms, one of the wildest areas in the country. The walk is 19miles long, and will take over eight hours through remote and exposed terrain.
We have been training for months now, hiking the Pentlands, munros, the West Highland Way; and we think our efforts might be worth asking for a wee donation from our friends and family.
Times are hard just now so any donation will be very welcome. And if not, thank you for reading this so we can raise awareness of how amazing The Yard is.
