Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have successfully finished our walk, clocking up 53 miles from Wembury to Dartmouth raising nearly £7000 with Gift Aid..and still rising!
Thank you to all our friends, our families and all the people we met along the way; for your donations, your support, acts of kindness and your words of encouragement.
At times we had to dig deep, to keep our spirits up, we often sang, making up the lines to traditional marching songs 😊. As we walked further, we came to understand and get to know each other’s personalities better, and so we likened each other to various kinds of animals. In the update below, you will be able to read our individual reflections and our new animal equivalents 😊.
We will keep this Just Giving Page open until the end of May, or longer if donations are still coming in. We have been stunned with how much we have raised…and maybe, just maybe… we may plan another one….
Thank You 🙏
OUR STORY:
ANGELA, CLAIRE, JULIE, BEVERLEY AND JULIE have been volunteers for Childrens Hospice South West (CHSW) for a number of years raising funds. As members of David Lloyd Club Emerson’s Green we have organised a number of fundraising events supported by the members and staff.
In the Autumn of 2023 whilst enjoying a cuppa at David Lloyd Club the five of us started planning 2024 events to raise further funds to support this amazing charity. We are very active social ladies and wanted something we could do as a team which would be both challenging and of course fun. We decided to walk part of the South West Coast Path and started our training walks in October.
Our walk starts from Wembury on the 7th May with stops in Bigbury on Sea, Hope Cove, Salcombe, Torcross ending in Dartmouth.
We realise it won’t be a “walk in the park” and there will be “highs and lows” but remembering why we are doing this, supporting families and children with life limiting or life threatening conditions will give us the encouragement to succeed.
