Story
In December 2023 my Dad, Christopher James McBrien (Christmas Brian) sadly passed away at the age of 67 due to Bile Duct Cancer, we were close and the loss has hit the family hard. In the years before his diagnosis and during his final year the care he received was brilliant, especially at F22 in the QMC where he spent a lot of time. We as a family are very grateful to them and the NHS and I wanted to give something back.
So here I am. I have always been a runner, but up until the last year I had never ran more than 10k and have never ran a half marathon, yet… and to be honest said I never would run one unless I had a cause to run for. I now have that cause and extra motivation to hopefully give a little something back and turn some of my sadness into a positive.
I'm taking on the Robin Hood Half Marathon 2024 to raise funds for F22 at the Queens Medical Centre Hospital, Nottingham. I aim to run the Half Marathon in 1 Hour 50 Minutes, which i realise is ambitious having never ran one. You can follow my training here.
Any money raised will help provide added extras such as improved facilities, equipment, research and staff development by supporting this campaign.
Every donation makes a huge difference - thank you!
