Story
As many of you know we lost our darling Hobbit in August 2023. The loss of a very much loved husband, dad, grandad, brother and son has shattered our whole world. As we try and pieces everything back together and navigate the grief, the girls has decided in memory of their dad's birthday this year, they want to raise money for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, who was part of the team who fought so hard to save Nick.
Lorelai(13) and Caroline(10) has decided to spend a few hours each weekend from the 28th January to the 28th February(Nicks birthday), litterpicking in our local area to try and raise funds for this amazing cause.
They have decided themselves what they wanted to do and who they wanted to raise money for.
We as a family has nothing but gratitude and respect for the emergency service personal who turned up so quickly in August. They went above and beyond anything we could ever have asked for and the crew from the Air Ambulance, especially Matt, gave us such good care throughout the whole duration, that we all really just want to give something back.
I hope you will all help our girls reach their goal or get as close to it as absolutely possible. We do understand things are hard and monies may be tight but even a share of their fundraising would mean so much to the girls and me.
30.1.24. Little more back story to why the girls has chosen this particular charity.
Nick had a real love for anything flying or driving, he loved tinkering with both cars, model or real sized and model helicopters. Nick died as a result of an oversight whilst tinkering with a car at home, where we (the girls and i) found him. The nearby neighbours and emergency help came so incredibly quick, it was all happening so insanely quick. Nick was 46 and has left behind 5 daughters aged 29 down to 10, a grandson who is almost a year old now, a large extended family both blood and chosen and me as his wife and partner of almost 14 years.
The girls has always been around the oil and grease from whatever Nick had decided needed fixing, broken or not. He was always there to help anyone who needed it despite his own struggles with disabilities limiting his abilities and living in daily pain. His biggest joy was his children and getting them engaged into the same world of cars and engines as he had. So it was only fitting that as his funeral started we had a low flying aircraft fly above the Crematorium, this was nothing we or anyone else had planned. It just happened to be, which made everyone giggle through a really hard day.
Lorelai and Caroline's biggest hope is that we can smash the £500 target they set and that we are able to go and visit the crew who came on the 6th August when we needed them the most. They want to raise as much money as humanly possible in 4 weeks so the helicopter and crew is there and ready should another family need them like we did, hopefully with a much happier outcome. And whilst doing this, try to keep our ever increasing messy countrysides a little cleaner.
I want to thank everyone who has already donated or shared our story, all of it, regardless of the amount, we truly appreciate. The girls are absolutely amazed how so many, many who doesn't even know us, has come to help reach the goal 🥰
