Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. I will be running my first ever marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025. I am hoping to raise as much money as I can to support the Severn Hospice in Shropshire.
Whilst I sit here and write my story its still hard to put into words just how thankful myself and my family are to the hospice staff. By running the marathon I'll be showing just a fraction of how grateful I am by embarking on this huge physical and mental challenge!
My Story
I am very proud to say, I am Shropshire born and bred and spent 21 wonderful years growing up in Church Stretton. Though, I now live in Hertfordshire, the Severn Hospice is very close to my heart and always will be.
In January 2017 my incredibly brave dad was diagnosed with cancer. Our lives were turned upside down, when we realised it was incurable. He never once complained and accepted his fate with bravery and courage and spent the next 10 months of his life making long lasting memories with his family. My dad had the most incredible care for the last 2 weeks of his life at the Severn Hospice in Shrewsbury and passed away on 17th November 2017. My family and I will always be eternally grateful for the incredible level of care, compassion, dignity and repect given to him during his final weeks. There are no words to adequately thank the staff and volunteers that supported dad and the family during this heartbreaking time and helped us come to terms with the huge loss in our lives.
The fundraising team at Severn Hospice have chosen me as one of their gold bond marathon runners for 2025 and I honestly could not be prouder to wear the gold running vest, knowing my dad, my hero would be extremely proud and will be with me every step of the way!
Thank you so much for your donation and the support given.
Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.
It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you. For every £1 you donate, the hospice will spend 87p directly on care – and use the remaining 13p to make another £1.
Last year, all those individual donations meant the hospice could be there when it mattered for 3,000 local families.
