Great North Run 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·

Sport offers tremendous physical, psychological and social benefits for those taking part. WheelPower provides and promotes opportunities for thousands of adults and children with physical disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport.

Story

This year I have challenged myself to take part in the Great North Run, pushing 13.1 miles through Newcastle and ending in South Shields, choosing WheelPower as my nominated charity. WheelPower has been a part of my life since the age of 14 and helped me in so many ways to get involved in wheelchair sports and put me in the position I am today.

WheelPower provides opportunities for disabled people to get involved in sport across the UK and has been doing so for nearly 70 years. Based at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympics, WheelPower hosts a number of sport festivals allowing disabled people of all ages to try out new sports and equipment, meet coaches local to them and get involved in new sports teams. Opening up a whole new world of opportunities for them within disability sport.

If you have anything to give, I would be extremely grateful of all donations. In these hard times, it really would mean the most, you will be contributing to the lives of disabled people as well as giving me that much needed motivation to get through this push!

Thank you for your donations – Bring on 10th September!!
