Story

Having completed the Brighton Half Marathon on crutches) a few weeks ago I am going to have a crack at the FULL Brighton Marathon on crutches on Sunday April 7. Once again this will be in support of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and in memory of Robert Henry Hawkins, a great friend, who had been a serving officer for 48 years when he passed (see Bob in photo gallery - a picture I took back in 1995 on HMS Brilliant). Bob remains a Royal Navy legend and the Senior Service is the poorer without him but he enjoyed a wonderful career in which he inspired many a young sailor to reach for the stars.

The RNRMC is the principle charity of the Royal Navy. Beneficiaries lie at the heart of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity's purpose, it is our duty to remain focused on their needs.

I had a full hip replacement just before Christmas ago and my surgeon has told me not to run competitively for at least 6 months but he did not tell me I could not compete on my bright red racing crutches!
