Story

One in five people will have a serious sight condition in their life time. Sight loss doesn’t care who you are or where you are from; anyone can be affected.

The fight against sight loss is on the cusp of many breakthroughs, but we urgently need the funding to get there. Your donation to help me hit my target will help fund that research, and create a world everyone can see. Thank you.

Five close mates, who all remember the days when they used to be finely tuned athletes are pulling together for this great charity to climb the ‘Three Peaks’.

Not only climb it, but attempt to complete it within 24hrs.

For those that don’t know what the 3 Peaks Challenge is, it’s the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon. And it’s tough!

Why does this mean so much to us? Sight loss has hit friends and family for a lot of us, not least one of the team’s (Chris) son, Harry.

Harry was diagnosed with Stargardt's Disease when he was 11 years old and as we know there in no cure/prevention at present so we are fundraising for Fight for Sight to help fund ground-breaking research into sight loss.

Over the years, Harry has coped amazingly well and we are all so proud of him, he has his challenges but keeps positive and always keeps his chin up.

Darren ( Goody) one of the team of walkers has been diagnosed with bird shot eye and close friend Megan Davies diagnosed with retinal pigment damage, all conditions a lot of us have likely never even heard of. Other family members of all of us also have their challenges with eye and sight conditions.

Trust us when we say that over the last weeks we have put the work in! On June 27th we head off to Scotland, and we are all really looking forward to it.

Thank you for your donations it is much appreciated and please give what you can afford and hopefully together we can make the gift of sight possible for others in the future with research.

Chris (Platty), Darren (Goody), Scott, Si (Fitch), Steve and our driver/climber/chef Darren (Monster)

Update 29/07/24

So, we are back! Probably one of the toughest challenges we have all faced, but for such a great cause.

The conditions from the very start were tough and stayed the same to the moment we stepped off Snowdon.

The aches and pains are all starting to slowly disappear, and when we reflect on our goals we are all very proud. We also collectively thank everyone for your support and messages throughout, we could not have done it without you.

A huge shout out to Darren (Monster) for driving nearly 1200 miles and getting us all there and back safe and sound. Memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you all so very much who have donated it is much appreciated.

Many thanks The Team.
