Story
We're forever thankful for the support that the Royal Berks Acute Stroke Unit gave to Donna Boyles in the immediate aftermath of her stroke in January 2015.
We did the first half of the Thames Path Challenge (Putney to Runnymede) in 2018, along with two Jurassic Coast challenges in 2017 and 2022, and have just made the last-minute decision to complete the second part (Runnymede to Henley). No training this time!
Helping to bolster the fundraising by Castle Royle Golf Club, we thought we'd do a little bit of fundraising in the couple of weeks we have before the event.
About the cause
The Royal Berks Charity highlights the need for support and the people and places who need it most urgently.
By raising funds for these areas, we underpin and support the Royal Berks NHS Foundation Trust and therefore the wider community.
Royal Berks Charity serves our local community and all funds raised will be used for the benefit of patients of the Royal Berkshire Hospital Acute Stroke Unit and the TIA Clinic supporting them, and their families, as they recover and are rehabilitated after stroke.
The unit serves a population of more than half a million people and treats more than 700 strokes and approximately 1000 TIA referrals every year. The TIA clinic investigates and assess people who have had a TIA and this service helps reduce the chance of a patient having another TIA or a stroke.
