Story
In September I am running the Berlin marathon to raise money for Anthony Nolan blood cancer charity. This will be the second major marathon I have run to raise money for Anthony Nolan, with my overall goal being to run all six majors for AN over the next 3 years.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
In 2008 my mum in law(Amanda) was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and underwent several trial treatments throughout her 14 year journey with Myeloma. Amanda always said how if nothing else, the research would benefit other people living with blood disorders in the future – so we want to continue to raise funds towards just that in her name.
Below is a breakdown of what donations could contribute towards:
- £5: Could get vital information to a patient and their family
- £15: Goes a long way to helping scientists conduct groundbreaking research
- £30: Could pay for an hour of a specialist post-transplant nurse's time
- £40: Could add a new potential lifesaver to our register
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and go towards a great cause!
