Team Newcastle are running 13 miles to help increase access to University education for young people in the North East. Every step will go towards supporting young people, from economically challenged backgrounds so they can access Uni education.

Story

As the University Vice Chancellor I am passionate about all of our students making the most of their University experience. Any funds raised will go towards providing a security net for those facing hardship. With the ongoing cost of living crisis, this is needed more than ever before.

As well as providing immediate hardship prevention to students facing immense struggles, these funds will help them to reach their potential in their studies and ensuring the opportunity to succeed is available for all, regardless of background or financial means.

Your support will help to provide laptops and other necessary equipment for students struggling to afford their own; you are subsidising travel costs to interviews and placements that further students’ career prospects; you are covering membership fees to get involved in Students’ Union clubs and sporting activities; and so much more.

I have previously run the GNR for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation but as my wife and son are running for this cause this year I am delighted to be able to run in support of our students
