The “Carry Me Home” Challenge
In aid of Myeloma UK
In 2023 a very big part of the Dursley Rugby Club family was diagnosed with a very serious illness, this was someone who is the epitome of grass roots rugby in the community, a rugby mum herself she has willingly giving up her time volunteering for the club in various capacities over the years, everything from refereeing, to decorating the marquee for our annual summer ball, but particularly for tireless efforts coaching various teams including the under 7’s, building their confidence, teaching them the rugby values & helping them to successfully transition through to the next phase of their rugby journey (assisted of course by “Freddy Frog” a valuable incentive for the player of the week) Encouraging our mini’s to believe & achieve is something that has provided the backbone of our current U16’s team, as such the team would like to show their appreciation for Nadine and the legacy she created by undertaking The “Carry Me Home” Challenge this will be a journey from Stroud RFC to Dursley RFC approximately 10 miles carrying a 50kg stretcher along the Cotswold Way this will be a difficult challenge, not only symbolising our solidarity with Nadine and the adversity she is facing but also recognising the importance of rugby family and how we can support each other through difficult and testing times! This will be a charity event in aid of Myeloma Uk to be held on Sunday 26th of November so please show your support for one of our own and donate if you can!
It would be great to see as many of you as possible at the clubhouse to cheer the team across the finish line
Many thanks for your support
