Story
If you know me personally, I can almost guarantee that you're reading over this page and thinking there is no way I'm actually about to embark on this journey. Most of you are probably wondering if I even know how to ride a bike (thankfully at a very basic level, I do) ... but to add to your bingo card of things you didn't see coming in 2024 **drum roll** this November I'll be cycling 500 km (310 miles) across Kenya (starting at Lake Nakuru and finishing up at the Maasai Mara National Reserve) with a handful of my lovely colleagues and Child.org! The cycle will aim to raise funds to help make pregnancies and births safer for mums and their babies in Kenya.
It goes without saying that I'm feeling all of the emotions about this decision and what the cycle is going to be like; however, I believe that now is as good of time as ever for me to partake in the experience and advocate for Child.orgs mission.
Child.org work with pregnant women, new mums, communities and government to provide life-saving antenatal and postnatal health information. They connect communities/ services and advocate for quality care so that mums and babies stay safe, alive and healthy.
As I've watched many of my friends in the US and UK enter the world of parenthood the past few years, the health and well being of mums and their babies is at the forefront of my mind. My goal is to raise £5,500 ($7,530 depending on the current exchange rate) for Child.org to support these mums and their babies.
Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated :)
