Story
Sylvie was born with a rare condition called Bladder Exstrophy and Epispadias.
Before Sylvie’s first birthday, she had already undergone three surgeries - the last of which was an extensive 12-hour surgery that subsequently resulted in a 5 week admission to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital where Sylvie was initially cared for in ICU before being transferred to Ward 77 for the rest of our stay. We can't predict exactly what Sylvie's future needs will be, but for now, we do know that she will require regular scans and appointments with her specialist team, with potential further surgeries as she grows.
The last two years haven’t been easy for our family, but we’ve tried to face each challenge with a positive attitude. Despite everything Sylvie has been through in her short life, she has never lost her smile or spirit. She is such a determined little girl and doesn’t let her condition hold her back. Each day, she amazes us with her strength and determination. She truly inspires us and brings joy even on our toughest days.
On 27th April 25, Chloe (Sylvie’s mum) will be taking part in a sky dive whilst Martin (Sylvie’s uncle) will be running the Manchester marathon. We are hoping to raise much needed awareness and funds for this amazing charity, which will provide the lifelong support to Sylvie and the other families affected by BE.
We are incredibly grateful for Sylvie’s team at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and to the Kidneys for Life charity. Every donation, big or small, will make a real difference. Thank you for your support, and for helping raise awareness and funds for something so close to our hearts.
