Story
On the 15th June this year, I’ll be side by side with my brother who is in wheelchair at the top of Snowdonia.
I’ll be running the Bristol Half Marathon to raise money for the incredible Campaign #knownowbounds. The main objective of the event is to raise money for the SMA charity which will buy all-terrain wheelchairs and give adults and children living with SMA the opportunity to experience the outdoors.
My brother, Josh, who has Spinal muscular atrophy type 3 (a rare neuromuscular condition that causes progressive muscle wasting and weakness) and has been in a wheelchair since the age of 10, is racing up Snowdonia against Maxwell who has the same condition in all-terrain wheelchairs.
Since we were children, we didn’t get to go hiking or go exploring. And I find myself telling the people every time I am outside in places which isn’t accessible, I wish my brother could experience this. Which is why, after 28 years of being on this planet I’ll be side by side with my brother at the top of a mountain.
I love how he is always redefining no, pushing boundaries and applying everything he has to any challenge. I don’t know anyone who works as hard as this man and I’m super proud to call him my brother. His condition hasn’t stopped him from going to university, starting his own business, having his own car and travelling around the world. If you are interested in helping me raise money for this amazing Charity, which has consistently supported my brother, please donate.
