Story
Hi, my name is Mathew. I am 35 years old.
Three years ago, I wasn’t in a good place both physically and mentally.
I decided to quit alcohol and took up running and ever since that day in August 2020, it's stuck and my passion for running has increased.
I am now training for my first marathon and I am focusing on running it in under 3 hours.
More importantly, I am running the marathon on behalf of a charity called Rueben's Retreat.-
Reuben was a little boy who lost his life at 2 years old due to an aggressive brain tumour while on a family holiday in 2012.
His parents immediately set up this charity in memory of Rueben and to help other families with child loss. Reuben’s retreat offers bereavement support to parents and siblings who have suffered the loss of a child.
Every story is as unique as the precious child that a family loses. My friend, very sadly lost his little boy at a very young age just a short time ago. Later he and his partner joined the charity to help them deal with the loss of their child. Reuben’s retreat promised to walk side by side with him and his partner and provide them with the support they needed. Now we are raising money for this amazing charity and all of its amazing work.
I would be very grateful if you could donate what you can spare. Every little helps. The more donations we can receive the more families this charity can walk alongside and support.
Thank you for reading this.
This one's for you, Rueben & Joshua.
Reuben’s Retreat was founded in August 2012, just 2 days after Reuben Graham died aged just 23 months old. His Mummy Nicola created the charity to help others who are facing or already dealing with similar heartbreak, walking side-by-side with families offering emotional and practical support for parents and siblings bereaved of a child and for families of life limited or threatened children who face uncertain futures.
