Story

Charlotte, her Aunties and her Nanny are going to be taking part in the Ellesmere Walk of Hope on the 30th September 2023. We are hoping to raise £300 for Brain Tumour research in support of Charlotte’s Daddy who is currently going through treatment for Brain Cancer.

Early this year Liam was experiencing headaches but was otherwise fit and healthy. He was sent by his GP for a urgent brain scan and was then diagnosed with a brain tumour. A month later he had surgery to drain fluid from his brain. This was followed by a second surgery to remove the tumour.

At this point a biopsy was taken which revealed that Liam had a Medulloblastoma (a malignant and aggressive brain tumour). Liam then had a third surgery to ensure good margins. Liam has since had 40 proton beam radiotherapy sessions and is currently on his first round of chemotherapy. This is due to end in April 2024.

There is limited research into the treatment of Medulloblastomas in adults which is why we feel it’s important to support Brain Tumour Research as well as raising awareness. We would be very grateful for any contributions and if you are able to please come along on the day!

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
