I’ll be taking part in the Ogwen25 | Yr Helgi Du on August 3rd held in Snowdonia this year which is a 25km hilly mountain race and I’ll be raising funds for Beat which is a UK eating disorder charity.
This cause means a lot to me, having suffered Bulimia for many years myself! .
Therefore, I know first hand how isolating this illness can be, and the importance of charities like Beat who offer support, as accessing treatment can be a difficult process. I now feel in a position to safely do a fundraiser like this and also be able to talk about this illness in the past tense.
Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder.
These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Eating disorders cost the UK's economy £16.8 billion each year.
