I'm taking part in the Great North Run to support families facing dementia this is cause very close to my heart and definitely something outside my comfort zone .. maybe they have a Prosecco van half way round😉🥂 jokes aside I’m hoping to raise as much as possible as possible for this amazing charity so if anyone can donate however small it may be it will be very much appreciated I’ve got a lot of training to do but I will definitely be getting over that finish line 😁😁
Speaking first hand I can honestly say that dementia is a cruel heartbreaking disease that effects not only those who are effected by it but the loved ones who watch first hand a person deteriorate in front of their own eyes.
I am participating in this half marathon, not only to raise awareness for this amazing charity but also in honour of all those who suffer from this merciless disease.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
