Story

On Sunday 29th September I’ll be running the Ealing Half Marathon and hoping to raise money for Duchenne UK for my cousin Thomas.

My cousin, Thomas, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in October 2023, aged 2 years old, after concerns with late crawling / walking. Since his diagnosis his family have gone through a rollercoaster of emotions, however, Thomas remains the smiley, happy, singing and dancing chatterbox of a little boy, and his happiness everything to his family.

Team Thomas supports Duchenne UK, a charity that has one clear aim: to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys.

Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development.
