1 mile every hour for 24 hours , 14 April 2023
Motivated by the strength and unfaltering sense of humour of our youngest daughter Poppy, we as a family are committed to support The Lily Foundation and help find a cure for Mitochondrial Disease.

Story

We’ve decided to take on the challenge of running 1 mile every hour for 24 hours in order to raise money for an amazing charity and the work they do. We’ll be starting at 3pm on 14th April and finishing at 2pm on the 15th!

Poppy has a Mitochondrial Disease, a genetic disorder which essentially means the batteries in her bodys cells arent powerful enough to enable her body to function as it would as a normal 6 year old. This disease has no typical symptoms or predictable prognosis and affects different people in different ways. Poppy is impacted by an inability to walk or sit unaided, she suffers from extreme muscle tension in her arms and legs which makes it very difficult to do basic daily activities and she is also very limited in her ability to speakall due to faulty mitochondria. For her family it is heart-breaking to know there is no treatment and no cure to this disease.

I'm joining Team Poppy to help The Lily Foundation, a charity funding vital research in to the disease and support families to change the future for children like Poppy across the UK and beyond. Please sponsor me if you can.
