Story
I'm going to be abseilling down the ArcelorMittal Orbit next month to raise some money for VetLife. For those who don't know, VetLife are an amazing charity, who work to provide emotional, financial and mental heath support to people within the Veterinary community. There is a higher level of depression and suicide within the veterinary industry than the general population, and VetLifes incredible work helps to provide assistance and support to anyone who is having a hard time.
I have personally used the services available through VetLife, after I was signed off work with anxiety. They provided me with really quick support, therapy and guidance to get through the difficulties I was facing. It makes a huge difference to know they are there when they are needed.
The JustGiving page for the abseil is below. We would be really grateful for any donations. I'm a little bit terrified as I'm not the hugest fan of heights, but wanted to do something to give back to this amazing cause.
Equally, for any of my friends who are in the Veterinary community and may need help and support at this time, please do get in contact with VetLife. They are empathetic, confidential and can provide help and support with any mental health problems or financial issues, usually much more quickly than going through your GP. Their website is vetlife.org.uk, and you can contact them via this if you don't feel able to talk on the phone, and do this anonymously. The number to call is 03030402551.
Thank you! 😊
