Story
StreetVet provide free accessible veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness and have 17 outreach locations across the UK supported by over 400 vet/vet nurse volunteers. At each location, StreetVet outreach regularly, at a fixed time and place, normally in conjunction with a social care provider such as a soup kitchen, day centre or hostel. During this time StreetVet deliver free preventative and reactive veterinary care, procedures such as simple diagnostic tests, flea and worming treatment, microchipping, education and daily essentials such as food, treats and other pet equipment to the pets of those experiencing homelessness. StreetVet clients describe their pets as family, their main source of mental health support, and credit their pet-human bond with giving them a reason to live. The StreetVet mission is simple, to protect the human-animal bond, keeping pets healthy and by their owners side whenever possible.
