Story
I am excited to share that I plan to embark on a trek to Everest Base Camp partnered with Choose a Challenge. This journey isn't just about the breathtaking landscapes and personal challenge; it's about making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by disease.
Why Meningitis Research Foundation?
Meningitis is a devastating illness that affects thousands of lives each year. It's a disease that strikes suddenly and can have severe, life-altering consequences. After children, students are the second most vulnerable group affected my Meningitis. As most first year students opt to live in halls, they will be living in very close proximity to hundreds of people who they have never encountered before, and who come from all four corners of the country. One in four of these new friends (15 - 19 year olds) will carry meningococcal bacteria, which can cause meningitis in the back of their throats, compared to one in ten of the UK population. As someone who believes in the power of research and the potential to transform lives through scientific advancement, I have decided to dedicate my trek to raising funds for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
The Meningitis Research Foundation is at the forefront of fighting against meningitis through research, education, and support. Their efforts have already saved countless lives and improved the outcomes for those who have suffered from this disease. By supporting their work, we can contribute to the development of better prevention strategies, improved treatments, and ultimately, the hope of eradicating meningitis globally.
How You Can Help
Your contribution, no matter the size, will go a long way in supporting meningitis research, awareness, and patient support. Your donation will not only motivate me during the toughest parts of the trek but will also directly impact the lives of those affected by this disease. Even if you're unable to contribute financially at this time, you can still make a significant impact. Please share my fundraising page with your friends, family, and colleagues. The more people we reach, the closer we get to our fundraising goal and the ultimate goal of a world without meningitis.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and for being a part of this incredible endeavour.
