Story
After 15 years of trying, I’ve finally got a place to run London Marathon!
Child Action Nepal is a charity close to my heart having spent 8 weeks volunteering out there in 2006.
Child Action Nepal is very unique in the way they support their children. When they join them they are between 4 and 10 years old, have lost their parents and do not have a family who can support them.
The team at LBU then become their family, make them feel loved and special. They have a limited number of children in their care to ensure that they are able to focus on them individually and attend to their specific needs. Like any family, they support them until they find a job and become independent. For the ones who show good potential with their studies, they also help them through university.
The children that I supported during my time there have all grown into incredible adults with fantastic careers and some of them now have families of their own.
Additional children have since come into the care of the orphanage and the LBU family continues to grow.
I hope that I can show as much courage, determination and resilience as these children showed and taught me, as I make my way around the streets of London.
CAN is a small charity with no highly paid executives - just lots of dedicated people all trying their hardest to make the lives of these children a little brighter.
Any donation you can make will be much appreciated by the LBU and CAN team, as well as by me.
Thank you
