Story
On Sunday 21st April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon for the MS Trust. The MS Trust are an important charity to me as they help to provide education and support alongside funding for amazing nurses and MS health professionals to offer the best care possible for those diagnosed with MS, like my dad.
For those who don't know anything about MS (Multiple Sclerosis), it is a disease that affects the central nervous system, and makes it difficult for the brain to send signals to the rest of the body. This can lead to problems with vision, balance and energy and can cause regular muscle spasms, numbness, tingling and pain, making everyday tasks a lot more difficult than they seem. There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS, and 7,000 more people diagnosed every year.
A year after running the London Marathon himself in 2010, my dad found out that he had MS. It has affected my dad and our family throughout the last decade but he has received brilliant support from the Kent MS Therapy Centre, and charities like the MS Trust, who do everything they can to help those suffering from MS. I am excited to be a part of the MS Trust London Marathon team for 2024, and am really looking forward to raising money for an important cause.
Those who know me know that I tore my ACL, MCL and both meniscus in my right knee whilst playing football in February 2022. On April 24th 2023, I had reconstructive surgery to repair my knee. Whilst I was sat in the waiting room before I had my surgery, I decided to sign up for the London Marathon, to set myself a challenge through my recovery. So on the 21st April 2024, almost a year to the day after my surgery, I am attempting to run the London Marathon in less than 4 hours.
Please follow my journey as I attempt to complete this challenge and please donate to help me support an incredible charity!
